Summer events have new home

Cradle Coast Sports and Events and The Event Crew Media Release 22/08/2013

Summer events have a new home.

Cradle Sports and Events Director Michael Bonney and The Event Crew director Kerry Stubbs have much pleasure advising that the iconic events Run Devonport and The Pure Tasmania Cycle Challenge have been sold to Cradle Coast Sports and Events. Both Michael and Kerry are excited that an arrangement has been reached and the events can thrive and survive into the future. These events, along with the Devonport Triathlon puts Cradle Coast Sports and Events at the fore front of event management Tasmania. The Devonport Triathlon was successfully delivered by the Cradle Coast Sports and Events team in 2013.

Kerry said “Being a proud North West coast boy it has been a pleasure to see both the events I started build over the last couple of years. Now being based on the Gold Coast it has become apparent for these events to continue to grow and thrive they needs a local Manager on the ground and I am very happy to see Michael take these events on. We have had a great working relationship via the Devonport Triathlon and I know PTCC and RD are in fantastic hands moving forward. The people of Devonport deserve well organised and run events and I know each event will help draw people from outside of the area into the local community and economy”.

Michael said “I am very excited to purchase the events and I look forward to managing and evolving them. It is going to be a busy six months in the lead up to all three events, however the challenge will be satisfying and rewarding experience for me, the organising committee, Devonport community and the competitors that come and enter the events .”

Mr Bonney said he would like to build the profile of the events over several years to highlight the North-West Coast of Tasmania to those from other areas in the state as well as interstate and international visitors.
The 2014 Devonport Triathlon will be held on Saturday 1st March, with a Kids/Corporate/Community triathlon on Sunday 2nd March. The Run Devonport will be held on Sunday 16th March and the Pure Tasmania Cycle Challenge will be held on Saturday 22nd February 2014.
