Cradle Coast Sports and Events purchased the Devonport Triathlon from previous owner Kerry Stubbs in 2012 and planning for the 2013 event commenced. It was an exciting and challenging few months leading up to the event, however it was unanimously agreed that the 2013 event was managed with the utmost efficiency and professionalism.
2014 will be the 29th year of this prestigious event which has built a global reputation as being “world class” and one of the country’s best triathlon experiences.
The Devonport Triathlon is one of Australia’s oldest, with the first event held in 1985. Since then, the Devonport Triathlon has hosted three Australian Age Group and Elite Championships titles, three Oceania Championships, was a selection race for the 2004 New Zealand Olympic team and again in 2012 for both New Zealand and Australian teams.
In 2014 the event will be held on Saturday March 1st at the Mersey Bluff precinct and will feature past and future Olympians and World Champions. Come on down to the Bluff for some thrilling triathlon action and enjoy some fresh, local food and hospitality.

The Devonport TriKids was purchased along with the Devonport Triathlon in 2012. In 2013 more than 160 children from local schools descended upon the Bluff to take part. Ten months on, we are still hearing reports of what an exceptionally organised event it was and how it was enjoyed by all.
TriKids has only been in Devonport for 3 years, each year growing in participation numbers. The focus of TriKids is participation and all children, of any ability are welcome to participate.
TriKids is a great way to introduce children to multi-sport or sport they have not tried before as there is no pressure to win and the event is fun and family focussed.
In 2014 the Devonport TriKids will be held on Sunday March 2nd at the Mersey Bluff precint and will be open to children in Grades 3 – 6. High school children will be able to participate in the Tasmanian Community Triathlon! (please make this into a link to the TCT info page)

The Tasmanian Community Triathlon is a new event being introduced in Devonport in 2014. It is an exciting new event aimed at high school children and community members wishing to give the sport of triathlon a go. Everyone in the community is encouraged to participate as an individual or as part of a team. It will be very interesting to hear feedback from this exciting new initiative.
The event will have no time limit and will be a relaxed, family orientated event where participation is the main focus.
The Tasmanian Community Triathlon will be held the same day as the TriKids, Sunday 2nd March 2014, so come on down to the Bluff and make it a day or family, fitness and FUN!

Cradle Coast Sports and Events had an opportunity to partner with and exciting new event called the Cranky Penguin mountain bike race. The race is conducted in the dial range which is a remote wilderness area located only a hefty stones throw from the sleepy seaside town of Penguin. The dial is a rugged, stunningly beautiful location full of suburb trails, spectacular scenery and riding that will knock your socks off, in short, it’s the perfect place to play host to Tasmania’s only one day mountain bike marathon. Riders can choose between two options, the 70km Cranky penguin or the 40km Not-So cranky Penguin. Cradle Coast Sports and Events provided event management support to the volunteer group which included media releases, sponsorship advice, on the day event support, attendance at volunteer meetings and general support to event organiser in the lead up to a very successful event. www.thecrankypenguin.com.au
Throughout 2013 Cradle Coast Sports and Events provided support to The Circular Head Australia Day committee to access sponsorship though local businesses to assist with their Twilight on the Duck Festival held annually on Australia Day in Smithton. This support involving the volunteer committee in every decision included sponsorship package writing, delivering package the to business by email, follow up phone calls and face to face meetings with the owners of each business. This method of encouraging business to come on board for the 2014 event has proven very successful with the doubling of the sponsorship dollars being added to this event.
